No sound in imported files (AC-3 audio codec)
If a video imports correctly but plays without sound, the issue may be related to the AC-3 audio codec used in the file.

You may notice one or more of the following:
- the video imports and plays, but there is no audio
- audio waveform is missing on the timeline
- the same file plays with sound in other players
- other videos work correctly, but some files have no sound
Why this happens
Some video files use the AC-3 audio codec.
Since Windows 24H2 (latest major update), Microsoft disabled native support for the AC-3 codec.
As a result, some programs may not play AC-3 audio correctly unless the required components are installed.
This issue is related to audio decoding, not to the video file itself or to Movavi activation or licensing.

Quick fix (start here): install AC-3 codec support
Step 1: Download the codec installer
Step 2: Install the codec
- Run the downloaded installer
- Click Install
If the Install button is greyed out:
- click Uninstall
- then click Install again
Step 3: Restart the system
Restart your computer after installation.
Step 4: Reopen Movavi and import the file
Launch Movavi again and import the video file.
In most cases, audio will now play correctly.
