System audio or microphone is unavailable
If system audio or microphone sound isn’t being recorded or available in the program, it’s usually caused by audio enhancement software, system settings, drivers, or permissions.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.
Before you start
Restart the program and make sure the required audio source is enabled:
  • System Audio
and/or
  • Microphone

If the issue persists, continue below.

Common reasons and solutions
Case 1: Third-party audio enhancement software is interfering
Some audio enhancement or sound control applications may block or redirect access to audio devices. This software is often installed with sound cards or laptops.

What you can do
  1. Check the system tray for audio-related applications running in the background.
  2. Close any audio enhancement or sound control software you find.
  3. Open Programs and Features and review the list of installed programs to see if any audio enhancement software is installed.
  4. Restart the program and try enabling System Audio and/or Microphone again.
Case 2: Security or privacy software is blocking audio access
Some security or system protection software may restrict applications from accessing audio devices.

What you can do
  • Check your security or privacy software settings.
  • Make sure the Movavi program is allowed to access audio devices and the microphone.

After changing the settings, restart the program and test again.
Case 3: System sound quality settings don’t match
In some cases, audio issues occur when the system sound quality settings don’t match the program’s audio processing settings.

What you can do
  • Open your system sound settings.
  • Locate your current playback device and open its configuration.
  • Make sure the device is configured for Stereo output and complete the configuration process.

Next, adjust the sound quality settings:
  • Open the Properties of your playback device.
  • Go to the Advanced tab.
  • Set the audio format to 16 bit, 48000 Hz.
  • Disable all of the audio enhancement options available in this tab
  • Enable all options under Exclusive mode.
  • Click Apply.

After that, restart the program and try recording or playing audio again.
Case 4: Sound card drivers are outdated
Outdated or incompatible audio drivers may prevent the program from accessing sound devices.

What you can do
Update the drivers for your active sound device.
Right-click the sound card and select Properties from the dropdown. In the popup, go to the Driver tab and click Update Driver. Click OK to confirm the changes.
Case 5: Microphone access permissions are not enabled
Microphone recording may require explicit system permission.

What you can do
Check your system privacy settings and make sure the Movavi program is allowed to access the microphone.
