If the recorded video and audio are not synchronized, the issue may occur during recording or after saving the file. This article explains how to identify where the desync appears and what you can do to fix it.
Follow the steps below in order.
Start here
First, check when the desync occurs:
the video and audio are in sync in the preview, but out of sync in the saved file
the video and audio are already out of sync in the preview after recording stops.
The next steps depend on this.
Case 1: Audio and video are in sync in the preview, but out of sync in the saved file
This usually indicates an output format, codec, or acceleration issue.
What to try
Open your application’s Settings→Preferences→Accelerations or Settings→Video.
Disable all available acceleration options.
Open the export or save options.
Select a different output format or change the video and audio codecs.
Use widely supported codecs where possible. For example, .mp4 H.264
Save the file again and check playback.
If the issue no longer appears, the original codec or format was causing the desync.
Case 2: Audio and video are already out of sync in the preview
This means the desync occurred during recording, not during saving.
Reduce recording load
Screen recording requires system resources. If too many apps are running, audio and video may not be captured evenly. What to do:
Close unnecessary applications.
Close extra browser tabs if recording from a browser.
Avoid running resource-intensive apps during recording.
Adjust recording settings
Windows and macOS
Open Settings → Video.
Set the frame rate to 25 FPS.
Disable any enabled hardware acceleration options.
Apply the changes.
Record a short test clip and check the preview.
Try an alternative capture mode (Windows)
If the issue persists on Windows:
Open Settings → General → Advanced.
Enable Use alternative capture mode.
Restart the program.
Record a short test clip and check synchronization.
macOS-specific notes
On macOS, desync may also be influenced by:
browser choice when recording online content
background apps consuming system resources.
What to try:
Change the browser used for recording.
Close unnecessary apps.
Enable Scale Down Retina Resolution under Settings → Video.
Keep the frame rate set to 25 FPS.
Record a short test clip again.
