Project files are missing
When you open a previously created project, you may see a message saying that one or more files are missing.This usually happens when a file used in the project has been moved or deleted since the project was last saved.

Why this happens
To save disk space, the program does not copy media files into the project.
Instead, it stores a reference to the original file location on your computer.

How to fix the issue
If the file was moved:
- Click Specify Folder in the missing files window
2. In the File Explorer window, select the folder that now contains the missing files
3. The program will relink the files automatically, and you can continue working on the project

You can also place the project file and all media files used in the project – videos, photos, and audio – into one folder, such as a folder on your desktop. When you open the project from this folder, the program should locate the files automatically.
You can also use the Save Portable Project option in the application. This creates a new Media folder next to the project file and adds copies of all the original files used in the project.

How to avoid this issue in the future
To prevent missing files when reopening a project:
- Make sure you keep the project and its files in the folders you can access quickly.
- Do not move, rename, or delete source files after adding them to the project.
- If you plan to move the project, try using the ‘Save Portable Project’ feature under File → Save Portable Project to create a copy of your files.
