If audio is present in the preview but missing in the exported file
If a video plays without sound during editing or after export, the issue is usually related to system settings, program permissions, or export codec compatibility.
Follow the steps below in order.
First, check where the issue occurs:

Option 1: Export using a different audio codec
If audio plays correctly during editing, the issue may be related to the audio codec used for export.
What to try:
If you are exporting for a specific device or platform, make sure the selected format and audio codec are supported.
Option 2: Check playback compatibility
If the exported file has no sound in your default media player, try opening it in another media player.
If audio plays correctly there, the issue is related to your player of choice playback compatibility rather than export.
Option 3: Check recording source (if applicable)
If the video was recorded using a microphone or external audio source:
macOS requires manual permission approval for apps to access audio devices.
What to check:
Contact Movavi Customer Service if the issue persists after completing all steps above.
Include:
- whether audio is missing in the preview or only in the exported file
- your operating system (Windows or macOS)
- the export format and audio codec used
- screenshots of system sound or permissions settings
- a short sample of the exported file (if possible)
- confirm you selected the correct input device before recording
- disconnect unused or inactive audio devices
- record a short test clip and export it again.
- Check that an audio output device is active in Windows sound settings.
- Make sure system sound works outside the program.
- Restart the program and reopen the project.

- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Review the following sections:
- Make sure the Movavi program is allowed and added to the lists.
- Restart the program after changing permissions.
- System Settings → Sound → Output
- Make sure the correct output device is selected and system sound works.
- Open the export settings.
- Choose a widely supported audio codec (for example, MP3 or AAC).
- Export the video again and check the result.
