Program crashes on Windows (graphics drivers)
If Movavi runs slowly, freezes, crashes, or shows visual glitches on Windows, the issue is often related to outdated or incompatible graphics drivers.

This article explains how to check and update your graphics drivers correctly.

Common symptoms
You may notice one or more of the following issues:
  • the program runs slowly or freezes
  • crashes during launch or while editing
  • laggy preview playback
  • visual glitches or artifacts in the preview window
Step 1: Find your graphics card model
Before updating drivers, identify which graphics adapter your computer uses.

Using device manager
  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Type Device Manager and open it or press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter.
  3. Expand Display adapters
4. Note the name of your graphics adapter
Important: At this point, you may have found your graphics card in Device Manager. Do not click Update driver there – this usually does not produce any results. Instead, proceed to Step 2 and install the drivers directly from the manufacturer.

📌 Some computers (especially laptops) have  two graphics adapters  (integrated + dedicated). This is normal.
Step 2: Download drivers from the manufacturer website
Always download drivers from the official manufacturer website:

On the website:
  • select your exact graphics card model
  • choose your Windows version
  • download the latest available driver.

Laptop users
Some laptops use customized drivers.
If installation fails or causes issues, check your laptop manufacturer’s website instead (Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, etc.).

Step 3: Install the driver and restart
  1. Run the downloaded installer.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Restart your computer, even if it’s not explicitly required.

Restarting is necessary for driver changes to take effect.
If the issue persists
If Movavi is still slow or crashes after updating drivers:
  • the issue may be related to OpenGL compatibility, or
  • your GPU may not meet the program’s requirements.
