If audio and video are not synchronized in the exported file, the issue may be related to preview performance, system load, or export settings. Follow the steps below to identify and resolve the problem.
Step 1: Check synchronization in the preview
Before exporting the project:
Play the entire project in the preview window.
Make sure audio and video are synchronized inside Movavi Video Editor.
If the audio is already out of sync in the preview, the issue is in the project and will also be present in the exported video.
Step 2: Reduce system load
If audio and video are out of sync in the preview window:
Close other running programs.
Avoid background tasks that may heavily use CPU or GPU resources.
High system load can affect real-time preview playback and cause desynchronization.
Step 3: Change hardware acceleration settings
If the preview is synchronized, but the exported video is not:
Open Movavi Video Editor
Go to Settings → Preferences
Disable hardware acceleration options (Intel hardware acceleration and NVIDIA NVENC, if available)
Apply the changes and restart the program
Export the project again
Hardware acceleration may cause synchronization issues on some systems.
Step 4: Try a different codec during export
If the issue persists:
Click Export
Select the same output format (for example, MP4 or AVI)
Choose a different video codec in the export settings
Export the project again
Changing the codec can help avoid encoding-related sync issues.
Additional tips
Make sure your source files play correctly in other media players.
Files recorded with a variable frame rate may cause sync issues after editing.
Converting the source files to a standard format before editing may help.
